Volunteers reach $50,000 goal in support of Buy a Bed Campaign
A little less than a year ago, members of the
Rouge Valley Centenary Volunteer Services got into bed with the RVHS Foundation, teaming up to support the Buy a Bed Campaign. Their mission looked steep, pledging to raise $50,000 to help buy desperately needed new beds for the hospital, but they were confident they could meet the challenge. So not surprisingly, thanks to successful fundraising events over the holidays, last month the volunteers put the pledge to bed by reaching their goal quicker than expected. It is a feat volunteer manager Bonnie Hughson marvels at.
"I think it's absolutely fantastic," she says. "People don'ty know how much work they put into this. I'm always so proud of them, they do such a great job."
Volunteer Services Financial Officer Ed Banks explains that indeed, they were not surprised to reach their goal quicker than expected.
"I knew we were going to make that $50,000 and I thought that it would come a little earlier," he says. "We had a great bazaar in November and mini-bazaar in December, along with the Christmas chest raffle."
A special thanks to the 400-plus volunteers who together make Centenary better every day with their efforts. The RVHS Foundation appreciates their continued support and this contribution to the Buy a Bed Campaign helps us get closer to our overall goal of 100 new beds.
