Wheelchairs make life easier for Rouge Valley Centenary patients

Last year, the Rotary Club of North Scarborough began the process of donating funds to purchase a wheelchair for the emergency department of Rouge Valley Centenary. Once the process was complete, the donation evolved and ended up being used to purchase several wheelchairs that were recently added to the department.

The chairs are marked by plaques inscribed: "A gift from Rotary Club of North Scarborough".

Gerd Wengler, a Rotary representative who spearheaded the project to make the donation, explained it came as a result of a senior member of the club having come to the hospital and no chair being available at the time. Mr. Wengler contacted the Foundation and the wheels were set in motion.

"That's fantastic," Mr. Wengler said, when informed the donation had led to several chairs, rather than just one. "We like to give to specific efforts, so buying chairs is wonderful."

The Foundation expresses sincere appreciation to the Rotary Club for its support through the donation.
