RVAP Auxiliary celebrates 60th Anniversary

the Auxiliary to Ajax and Pickering hospital.
On Sunday October 30, more than 150 members and community friends celebrated the volunteers of the Auxiliary to Rouge Valley Ajax and Pickering hospital (RVAP) and their 60 years of having supported their community hospital.

“The Auxiliary and the hospital are two parts of one whole,” says Bev Carmichael, President of the Auxiliary to Rouge Valley Ajax and Pickering hospital. “We are so proud of the dedication the hundreds of volunteers have provided to local health care over those 60 years and we are excited to be able to celebrate this milestone with an event that will bring together many of those volunteers, past and present."

At the celebration, Bev Carmichael and the Auxiliary's Executive recognized long-standing volunteers as well as the dedication of its younger members (one of whom had donated 300 hours of service!).

Plus, a cheque for $50,000 was presented to the RVHS Foundation for the Image is Everything campaign.  The Auxiliary is a lead donor in the  campaign, which has brought an MRI machine to RVAP. Their $500,000 pledge matches the largest donation made to the campaign, to date. Rouge Valley Health System Foundation President and CEO, Chad Hanna, says he was grateful, but not surprised, that the Auxiliary committed to such a tremendous gift to the hospital.

“These volunteers are the cornerstone of Ajax and Pickering’s hospital,” says Mr. Hanna. “The Auxiliary existed before the hospital was even constructed and they have always been there to support in any way needed.”
