Makeup: Pink Lips and Cheeks

Happy Tuesday! :D

Official first day of Summer -- wooooohoooooo!!! :)

Nothing epic has happened to my Summer yet, but I'm always hoping that a fun adventure is just around the corner. Oh, and Sephora has already emailed me that I can go pick up my birthday gift -- my 21st birthday is in two weeks?! :O

Speaking of Sephora (and my birthday, haha), I really want to get myself a bright pink lipstick. I think it's time for me to give it a try. :)

Photobucket

I love the way it looks! I love red lipstick too, but I think a bright pink lip color would bring out everyone's fun side! And it's such a summer color - very vibrant, youthful, and fun. :D

Besides bright pink lipstick, I also want to try a bright pink blush like the one they have above.

Do you guys have any suggestions -- what lipstick and blush should I try?

Here are some celebrities sporting pink lips and cheeks:

Rihanna and Kate Bosworth

Alexis Bledel (She's so pretty!)

Gwen Stefani

Emma Stone

Lauren Conrad

What do you think of pink lips and cheeks?

Have a fantastic week, everyone! :)

Prim and proper beauty picks! :)

Another week ahead of us! April is going by fast! :O

One more week of papers and midterms, and it's Spring Break! Yay!

Spring Break = time to blog, read for fun, catch up on TV shows, and not do anything school-related... oh, okay, fine, I have an exam and a paper due after my break, but that's okay, haha. ;)

Anyway, enough about that... for today, let's talk beauty!

With prom and wedding season coming up (and throw in some graduation ceremonies here and there), it's time for us to emphasize and highlight our prim and proper selves.

And so, here are ten "prim and proper" beauty picks:

Photobucket

1. Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Siren ($8, Walgreens)

I really like Revlon's lipsticks - they're smooth and creamy. And the colors are fantastic! There are 72 shades to choose from! And for $8, as Charlie Sheen would say, winning! ;)

2. OPI Nail Lacquer in Isn't That Precious? ($9, Dillard's or Sephora)

I think this nail polish color is perfect for prom or for the many weddings you may be invited to in these coming months. If you don't have time to get a mani and pedi, or if you want to save some bucks, set aside some time to pamper yourself at home - paint your own nails! You can't go wrong with this subtle and pretty shade. :)

3. Paul and Joe Nail Enamel in Poodle ($14)

If like me, you're wondering what the difference is between this and the OPI nail polish, then I've got some answers for you. :)

Lacquers, enamels, and nail polish are all basically the same thing - they just differ in formulation (drying accelerating solvents, thickness, etc.), but you will end up getting almost the same result. Enamels are generally expected to give a smooth or glossy appearance (maybe that's why it's more expensive by $5?).

4. Lulu Beauty Solid Perfume in Starlet ($30)

I've heard a lot of good things about solid perfumes, but I've never really tried them myself. I love how pretty the box is and all, but I don't know if I am willing to spend $30 on this. Are you?

5. Too Faced Brightening Blush in La Vie en Rose ($20, Sephora)

Whenever I go to Sephora, I always check out the Too Faced section, but I've never bought anything from that particular brand. What do you guys think of Too Faced makeup products?

6. Lancome Tresor in Love Eau de Parfum ($55, Macy's)

My perfume is Daisy by Marc Jacobs. What's yours?

7. MOR Perfume Oil in Belladonna ($20)

Do any of you know what this smells like?
I think for $20, it's a good buy, and if you guys think it smells great, I would love to try it. :)

8. Victoria's Secret Bombshell Luminous Body Powder ($25, Victoria's Secret)

How cute is that?!
I've never tried this, but I would love to. :)

9. Benefit Girl Meets Pearl Illuminator in Golden Pink ($30)

My sister uses Benefit products, and she loves them!

10. Coty Airspun Loose Face Powder ($7, Rite Aid)

At just $7, I think it's definitely worth the try! :)

Have you tried any of these ten products? Thoughts?
Which of these should we try? Which ones do you want to try?

Have a fantastic week! :D

How do you keep your makeup organized?

Is it just me or does everyone notice that time - as in minutes and hours - seem to fly by? I look at the clock and it's 11am... then I look again, and it's 6pm. Woah there. It gets dark earlier now, so it must really mean that Fall is almost here. This weekend flew by too - we're going back to our normal routines. Kinda sad.

So you know how I told you guys about the pictures I took forever ago on this post? The pictures on today's post are part of that. Haha.

I remember how excited I was when I took these, and that excitement is back right now! I want to share with you guys how I organize my makeup. I was so happy when I realized that I had enough makeup to fill this big caboodle.

Photobucket

Before I started actually using makeup, I used to keep my modest collection in drawers and cupboards by the bathroom sink. And then my sister gave me that caboodle, and let me tell you, it is heaven sent! Now I see all the makeup products I own, and I get to use them all. It feels good to know that I know what I have and none of them would be wasted. :D

There are 6 "compartments" and one big one underneath.

These are the ones I use everyday, and whenever I am in a hurry:

Photobucket

my foundation, concealer, cream blush, MAC neutral eyeshadow quad, and a Clinique on-the-go makeup set

This compartment is all about lips! :)

Photobucket

There's Clinique, N.Y.C., e.l.f., Victoria's Secret, Nyx, Essence, and one from Forever21.

These two compartments are 1) stuff I use everyday, but won't fit in the first compartment and 2) stuff I use from time to time

Photobucket

My e.l.f. eyelash curler and Essence mineral compact powder, MAC foundation, e.l.f.blush, e.l.f. blotting papers, Clinique blush and eyeshadow set, and e.l.f. eyebrow kit.

These are all about the eyes - eyelids to be exact:

Photobucket

As you can see, I have a lot of e.l.f. products - they are great, especially for beginners like me. The quality is really good, and the price is even better!

These are also for the eyes - lashes and eyebrows:

Photobucket

There are different mascaras, two eyebrow shapers, and tons of eyeliners. It's actually funny that I have a lot of eyeliners because I rarely use them. Some of those I haven't even used - see, that Sephora one is still sealed. Haha.

Underneath all those compartments is this big area where I put my makeup sponges, makeup remover wipes, and other stuff that won't fit elsewhere. I keep my makeup remover wipes upside down because that way the moisture would go to all the wipes, and the first one I'd get would be just perfectly moist.

Photobucket

What about you, how do you keep your makeup organized? If you did a blog post about it, let me know - I would love to check it out. :)

Have a great week, everyone! :D

Olay Daily Facials Express Wet Cleansing Cloths Review

It's Friday once again, my dear friends! I hope everyone had a lovely week! :D

Because our daily lives are often packed and busy - with long days spent at work or school, a night of going out and hanging out with friends, or going on a date night with your special someone - it is no surprise that we come home tired and just ready to go to bed. While most of us absolutely cannot sleep without washing our face, there are also some who are just so tired that they sometimes just go straight to bed.

Fortunately, we now have cleansing cloths to keep us from sleeping with makeup still on our face. I use Olay Daily Facials Express Wet Cleansing Cloths before I wash my face. You can definitely use just the cleansing cloth, it takes out my makeup and cleans my face, but I still do wash my face to be sure.

Photobucket

Daily Facials Express Wet Cleansing Cloths thoroughly cleanse skin with a “lift and lock” texture that holds onto dirt and make-up—even waterproof mascara. At the same time, it leaves skin feeling touchably soft with light Olay moisture and vitamin E.

Add them to your skin care routine to:
• Thoroughly cleanse and soften skin, all in one easy step
• Remove make-up—including waterproof mascara

For Use On All Skin Types. Ophthalmologist Tested. Dermatologist Tested.

*from http://www.olay.com/*

I use this cleansing cloth to take off my makeup before I wash my face. I love how the size of the cloth is big enough to cover my whole face. It is thick enough that the dirt and makeup do not seep into the other side. I use the other side to wipe the foundation off my neck. It smells great, and it leaves my face feeling soft and clean.

It does leave a somewhat slippery/oily feeling though, but it's not such a big problem for me since I wash my face after anyways. It's not that greasy, so it's good - I'm guessing moisture and Vitamin E from the cloth can account for the slippery feeling. I also recommend using it everytime we have the chance because they do dry out. Besides that, I didn't find any big problems with it.

Have you tried this particular type and brand of cleansing cloth? What do you think of it? What is your favorite brand?

I was also going through my photos, and I found pictures of the little gift I got from Sephora for my birthday. Sephora gives cute, little birthday gifts to their "Beauty Insider"s. I think it's great, and every year I look forward to what I'm going to get.

This year I received an eyeshadow, eyeliner, and a mascara. :D

Are you a Sephora Beauty Insider too?

I wish everyone a wonderful weekend! :D

Tagged by Carrie and Gaby! :)

I've been tagged by Carrie to do a "5 Product Face Challenge" and by Gaby to answer 7 questions. It's been quite a while since both tags, and I feel bad for not being able to do them right away. So, here we are now. :D

For Carrie's tag, I am supposed to do my makeup with only 5 products. I counted how many products I use when I am really into doing my makeup. I use about 10: concealer, foundation, compact powder, cream blush, powder blush, lip balm, lip gloss/lipstick, mascara, eyelid primer, and eyeshadow. But that's only when I have time, haha. ;)

If I had to choose only 5 out of that 10, these are the ones I would definitely use:

1. My MAC concealer (not actual picture) - I use NW25.

Photobucket

2. Revlon Custom Creations Foundation - I started out using just #4, but now I use one whole pump of #4 and a half pump of #3. Check out my post about it here. :)

3. N.Y.C. Blushable Creme Stick - I have it in Big Apple Blush. Check out my review here. :)

Photobucket

4. Essence Black Mania Carbon Black Volume Mascara - I am more comfortable with using a gel/clear mascara, but now I'm really trying to use this black mascara. Check out my thoughts on it here. :)

Photobucket

5. Essence XXXL Shine lip gloss - I have it in Super Girl 05.

*I usually put lip balm on before putting lip gloss/ lipstick on.*

You know how you use one lip gloss for a period of time, and then you kinda want to try a new color, then you use that other color again, and the cycle goes on? Yup, this is my lip gloss of the moment. :D

Thanks again to Carrie for tagging me and sorry it took me forever! My lovely friends, I hope you all get the chance to do this tag too. It's pretty fun, and I tag all of you! :D

Now, on to Gaby's tag. Here are her 7 questions that I will be answering:

1. What's your favorite beauty item(s)? - I have to say my concealer and lip balm.

2. How did you become interested in beauty? - My older sister is the one who has and continues to introduce me to beauty stuff - makeup, facial scrubs, clothes... everything! :D
3. What do you like to see the most in a blog? - I love seeing reviews on beauty products because those give me an idea which ones are good and which ones are not so good. Outfits and hauls are also very fun. And giveaways always excite me! ;)
4. What's your favorite hobby (besides blogging)? - I love to read and swim.
5. What's your favorite book? - I have a lot of favorites, but the number 1 book/ book series that comes to mind is Harry Potter, of course. :D

6. Do you study/work? - I am studying event planning and design. And, nope, I don't work, but I want to, soon. :)
7. Do you have a dream? - I have a lot! My main dreams are for my siblings and me to be successful in our chosen careers and to have a happy family life. :)

Thanks to Gaby for this tag! :D

I hope you get the chance to do either one of these two tags. Have a wonderful weekend! :D

Rosebud Strawberry Lip Balm

Strawberry Lip Balm: Indulge your sweet tooth as you soothe dry, chapped lips with Rosebud's newest, strawberry-scented lip balm. Following in the Rosebud tradition of simple, easy to use products, this vintage-inspired tin contains a combination of rich emollients that lock-in moisture and banish dryness after only one application.

$7-- Sephora

i seriously cannot live without this lip balm. it is one of the things i would definitely bring with me if i ever "get stuck on an island".

it's a great moisturizer. it smells great (strawberry! :D). it lasts for a very, very long time. i first bought one when i was 13 years old, and i used it up until i turned 19. i just recently finished that one, and bought my second one. i will probably buy another one when i'm about 25 years old (unless i lose the one i have now, which i really really hope doesn't happen). :)

when you're in a hurry and there's no time to grab your favorite lip gloss, this will save your day. throughout the hectic 4 years of high school when i had no time at all in the morning to put make-up on, i knew i can count on my favorite lip balm to make me look presentable (along with cheek-pinching to have "natural blush"). :D

final verdict: great price. great value. sooo worth it.

Clinique Long Last Glosswear with SPF 15

if i were to choose one item from my modest collection of make up, it would be lip gloss.

my most recent purchase was Clinique in Juicy Apple. i used to always buy lip glosses that were pink or a different color close to that. now that i am older, i just wanted to try one in a more vibrant color. and what other color screams vibrant more than red, right?

so there i was, wandering the aisles of Sephora looking for a nice red lip gloss under $20 (i only had an extra $20 at that time). when i walked by the Clinique section, i was so happy to find their lip glosses. for $14, i think it's worth it.

it moisturizes and protects lips (it has SPF 15). it's really long lasting. it's supposed to last for 8 hours (unless, of course, you eat and/or drink, and wipe it off). there are also 18 colors to choose from.

Juicy Apple, $14 from Sephora
