Makeup: Pink Lips and Cheeks

Happy Tuesday! :D

Official first day of Summer -- wooooohoooooo!!! :)

Nothing epic has happened to my Summer yet, but I'm always hoping that a fun adventure is just around the corner. Oh, and Sephora has already emailed me that I can go pick up my birthday gift -- my 21st birthday is in two weeks?! :O

Speaking of Sephora (and my birthday, haha), I really want to get myself a bright pink lipstick. I think it's time for me to give it a try. :)

Photobucket

I love the way it looks! I love red lipstick too, but I think a bright pink lip color would bring out everyone's fun side! And it's such a summer color - very vibrant, youthful, and fun. :D

Besides bright pink lipstick, I also want to try a bright pink blush like the one they have above.

Do you guys have any suggestions -- what lipstick and blush should I try?

Here are some celebrities sporting pink lips and cheeks:

Rihanna and Kate Bosworth

Alexis Bledel (She's so pretty!)

Gwen Stefani

Emma Stone

Lauren Conrad

What do you think of pink lips and cheeks?

Have a fantastic week, everyone! :)

CoverGirl NatureLuxe Silk Foundation

Happy Saturday!

I hope you are all having a fabulous weekend! :D

My summer break has been going pretty okay, it's just the normal feeling of "Wait, it's only 11am? What?!". It's going pretty slowly, but there's a whole summer ahead, and I am excited to see what it has in store for me. :)

In the meantime, I am happy to just spend more time here on Blogger. :D

Anyway, I've been meaning to tell you guys about this product, but I just never got around to it:

CoverGirl NatureLuxe Silk Foundation

Photobucket

Redefine natural beauty with our lightweight silk foundation. With a touch of cucumber water and a hint of jojoba and rose hip extracts, our light yet luxurious formula takes heavy weight out of your polished finish. Plus, we're so sure you'll love NatureLuxe Silk Foundation, that if you're not satisfied with the results, we'll refund your money.

- Luxury touched by nature
- Silky formula
- Contains a hint of jojoba and cucumber extract

NatureLuxe Silk Foundation has the same amount of product inside the recyclable plastic tube as TruBlend Liquid Makeup, Clean Makeup, and Advanced Radiance Liquid Makeup.

***from www.covergirl.com***

I like that it is in a recyclable plastic tube as opposed to a glass bottle.

It smells great!

It can feel oily at first, but I find that it is also silky and not too heavy on the face.

It has SPF 10.

Easy to blend.

There are 14 shades to choose from, so there should be a close match for everyone. :)

Photobucket

I got mine in Aspen (320).

Here are the other shades available:

CoverGirl also provides a comparison chart to help us find the perfect shade for us.

At Ulta, they are sold for $11.99. At Target, $9.25.

I'm pretty sure you can get it for much less at Rite Aid, CVS, or Walgreens. :)

I really like the NatureLuxe collection. They have really great products - at least from my experience with the ones I've tried. :)

Have you tried CoverGirl's NatureLuxe Silk Foundation? Thoughts?

I hope you are all having a relaxing weekend! :D

P.S. My $100 Shopbop gift card giveaway is open until June 18th -- still plenty of time to enter! Click the link below. :D

Happy Tuesday! And Happy May! :D

I still cannot wrap my head around the fact that it is now May, and Summer is just around the corner! :O

I think we should make the most out of Spring before full-on Summer heat comes... although it might as well be Summer, Los Angeles was in the 90s today!

Anyway, since it's still Spring, I have a question for you guys:

What's your favorite Spring blush?

Right now, mine is

Skin Smoothers: Banish Dry Skin!

Hey, guys! :D

I'm so happy to find some time to make a blog post. :)
One midterm, and one Friday class, and it's Spring Break, yay!!!

Anyway, weather can be so weird - one day it's soooo hot, the next it's freezing. But the weather I hate the most is when it's windy! It makes my skin dry up so much more than it normally does. I absolutely hate dry skin, and that's why I like trying different kinds of face cream. :)

I have a pile of People magazines, I was going through them, and I saw this page showing what some celebrities use to fight dry skin.

***(I was able to scan tons of interesting pages from People! I will be sharing them with you guys! :D)***

Photobucket

1. Lancome Galatee Confort Comforting Milky Creme Cleanser ($30)

"It's so moisturizing. I don't need lotion, and it takes off all my makeup too." --Raven-Symone

This sounds great to me! From how Raven described it, I think it's worth the $30.

2. Kiehl's Rosa Arctica Youth Regenerating Cream ($60)

"This cream has been fantastic during this brutal winter." -- Julianne Moore

A really good and effective face cream is very important, especially during Winter. And, more so for you guys who get snow and really low temps - I can only imagine!

3. Kate Somerville Quench Hydrating Face Serum ($65)

"This serum is awesome. It makes my skin feel amazing."
-- Jessica Lowndes

Right now, I am using a face serum. So far, it's working well. :)

4. La Prairie Advanced Marine Biology Day Cream SPF 20 ($175)

"It's thick but light, my favorite combination, and has a lovely fresh scent." -- Ginnifer Goodwin

This sounds amazing, and for that price, I think it should work really well.

5. eos Lip Balm Smooth Spheres, in five flavors, Summer Fruit (around $3.29)

"These are perfect. I love the flavors, and they smell good."
-- Whitney Port

I know a lot of bloggers love this! :D I actually have yet to get one. ;)

Oh, and guess who else likes these cute lip balms... None other than Chuck Bass himself!

Have you used any of these 5 products? Which ones do you want to try? How do you fight off dry skin?

Have a happy Thursday! :D

Prim and proper beauty picks! :)

Another week ahead of us! April is going by fast! :O

One more week of papers and midterms, and it's Spring Break! Yay!

Spring Break = time to blog, read for fun, catch up on TV shows, and not do anything school-related... oh, okay, fine, I have an exam and a paper due after my break, but that's okay, haha. ;)

Anyway, enough about that... for today, let's talk beauty!

With prom and wedding season coming up (and throw in some graduation ceremonies here and there), it's time for us to emphasize and highlight our prim and proper selves.

And so, here are ten "prim and proper" beauty picks:

Photobucket

1. Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Siren ($8, Walgreens)

I really like Revlon's lipsticks - they're smooth and creamy. And the colors are fantastic! There are 72 shades to choose from! And for $8, as Charlie Sheen would say, winning! ;)

2. OPI Nail Lacquer in Isn't That Precious? ($9, Dillard's or Sephora)

I think this nail polish color is perfect for prom or for the many weddings you may be invited to in these coming months. If you don't have time to get a mani and pedi, or if you want to save some bucks, set aside some time to pamper yourself at home - paint your own nails! You can't go wrong with this subtle and pretty shade. :)

3. Paul and Joe Nail Enamel in Poodle ($14)

If like me, you're wondering what the difference is between this and the OPI nail polish, then I've got some answers for you. :)

Lacquers, enamels, and nail polish are all basically the same thing - they just differ in formulation (drying accelerating solvents, thickness, etc.), but you will end up getting almost the same result. Enamels are generally expected to give a smooth or glossy appearance (maybe that's why it's more expensive by $5?).

*info from www.beautytech.com*

4. Lulu Beauty Solid Perfume in Starlet ($30)

I've heard a lot of good things about solid perfumes, but I've never really tried them myself. I love how pretty the box is and all, but I don't know if I am willing to spend $30 on this. Are you?

5. Too Faced Brightening Blush in La Vie en Rose ($20, Sephora)

Whenever I go to Sephora, I always check out the Too Faced section, but I've never bought anything from that particular brand. What do you guys think of Too Faced makeup products?

6. Lancome Tresor in Love Eau de Parfum ($55, Macy's)

My perfume is Daisy by Marc Jacobs. What's yours?

7. MOR Perfume Oil in Belladonna ($20)

Do any of you know what this smells like?
I think for $20, it's a good buy, and if you guys think it smells great, I would love to try it. :)

8. Victoria's Secret Bombshell Luminous Body Powder ($25, Victoria's Secret)

How cute is that?!
I've never tried this, but I would love to. :)

9. Benefit Girl Meets Pearl Illuminator in Golden Pink ($30)

My sister uses Benefit products, and she loves them!

10. Coty Airspun Loose Face Powder ($7, Rite Aid)

At just $7, I think it's definitely worth the try! :)

Have you tried any of these ten products? Thoughts?
Which of these should we try? Which ones do you want to try?

Have a fantastic week! :D

Almay Smart Shade Anti-Aging Concealer Review

Happy Thursday, everyone!

Right now, I am using the new editor, and I am loving it... why did I wait this long?!

Two days ago, I shared with you guys my thoughts on Almay's hydrating makeup. For today, I will be reviewing my

Almay Smart Shade Anti-Aging Concealer

almay_06large/img_12854.jpg

This breakthrough concealer matches your skin tone and fights signs of aging.

4 out of 5 women saw an instant reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. This lightweight formula moisturizes and smooths skin around the delicate eye area. Medium coverage helps to conceal minor imperfections and dark circles under eyes. SPF 20 protects.
***from www.almay.com***

Photobucket

I cannot really say for sure that it reduces the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, but I can tell you that it definitely makes the eye area smoother.

It works like any other concealer, but what I love about this is its consistency. It blends in well, and covers blemishes and dark spots well too.

I suggest really checking to see which shade matches your skin color because I was in a hurry so I just grabbed the concealer that was there (big mistake!). I got it in light, and it's just too light for my skin tone, especially in the eye area. So now what I do is put a little bit of it on top of my MAC concealer, and it works out okay. For the rest of my face though, this concealer by itself is fine.

I just wish there were more shades available. They only have three:

Light

Light Medium

Medium

Besides just having only three shades, I don't have any other complains. It's around $7, so if it doesn't work out for you or you end up not liking it, it really won't hurt your budget too much.

Have you tried using this concealer? Is it something you might want to try?

:D

Almay Wake Up Hydrating Makeup Review

Happy Tuesday! :)

So, yesterday I said that I will be reviewing one of my Almay products today, and I chose to start with

Almay Wake Up Hydrating Makeup

Almay has taken mineral foundation to the next level using an innovative process that infuses encapsulated water in a luxurious loose powder. The result is instantly glowing, hydrated skin with an amazing cooling sensation.

Professional makeup artist inspired foundation brush fits perfectly in the cap for easy storage and mess-free travel.

Photobucket

• mineral loose powder foundation provides flawless coverage

• encapsulated water delivers instant cooling hydration

• formula with cucumber, minerals, aloe vera and green tea extracts refresh and give skin a smooth appearance

• SPF 13 helps protect against damaging UVA and UVB rays

• provides light to medium coverage

• soft luminous finish • hypoallergenic • dermatologist tested

•oil-free, free of talc and added parabens

Application Tips:

1. Slide brush out of cap and extend to lock brush handle into place.
2. Swirl brush into powder and tap off excess.
3. Blend powder evenly all over face in short, sweeping strokes for a natural luminous complexion.
4. Slide brush back into cap and close the lid tightly after each use.

***from www.almay.com***

(Their website is awesome - sooo organized!)

First thing I'm going to say: I love it!

Everything said above are all true (maybe except the brush... we'll get to that later).

This is an amazing product! Normally, I am happy with the products I use, but I don't think I ever really rave about a lot of them. So, this is a rave. ;)

I love how you can really feel the water in the powder - the first time I used it, I had to check to make sure my face wasn't wet, haha! It's cooling - perfect for warm summer days. And it has SPF 13!

It gives my face a smooth finish. When I first started using this, I had little dark bumps on my face - they were covered - not totally, but they were covered.

It's very light, not heavy on my face at all. Not greasy. Basically, everything said above.

Now, the brush...

I actually really do like the shape and quality of the brush itself. The only part I had a problem with was the lock when you slide it up. A couple of times while applying the powder onto my face, the brush would slide back down. Maybe it was just the brush I got, or maybe not. If you use this, have you encountered that problem?

Price... At Target, it's $11.79. At Ulta, it's $12.99.

I'm not sure what the regular prices are for this kind of powder, but I think those are pretty reasonable. What do you think?

Have you used this? What do you think of it? How did it work for you?

Is it something you would want to try?

***I might be getting the Revlon ColorStay Aqua Mineral Makeup, which is the same as this, so I will be doing a comparison between the two in the future.*** :D

Have a great rest of the week! :)

L'Bri Pure n' Natural Facial Masque

Happy Wednesday!

Last week, I made a review on one of my L'Bri skin products... and now it's time for another one. :)

L'Bri Pure n' Natural Facial Masque

L'Bri's "non-surgical facelift" tones, lightens, and clears away dead skin cells, returning skin's natural smoothness. Simultaneously diminishing the appearance of wrinkles and enlarged pores, it speeds the healing of blemished skin. For all skin types. (4oz. $26.50)

Photobucket

Directions: Use two to three times per week after cleansing. Apply with fingertips in an upward motion to face and throat. Avoid eye area. Allow facial to dry for 10 minutes. Rinse and pat dry. Follow with freshener and moisture lotion.

This is a good facial mask. It does everything that the description says. The smell is pleasant.

As it hardens, it squeezes your face... quite literally. It squeezed my face so much the first time I used it that my lips were popping out - kinda like Angelina Jolie's lips. It was really funny! ;) But I guess that's what they call "non-surgical facelift".

It's very sticky and when you squeeze it out, it goes all over the top of the cap/container. And of course, be sure to moisturize after because we don't want dry and itchy skin.

At $26.50, it is also more affordable than the facial peel I reviewed last week (check it out here), so you might want to go for this instead. Either one is good. :)

Have you tried this facial masque? Is it something you might like to try?

-----------------------------------------

I also just wanted to share with you guys that http://www.freebeautyevents.com/ will be giving away an Almay gift pack to ten lucky winners. Visit their site and enter for a chance to be one of those lucky ten. The contest will run through the 28th of February - winners will be chosen on March 5th and notified by March 15th.

Get Up & Grow Mascara, Intense i-color Smokey i-Eyeshadow, Wake Up Makeup, and Almay Smart Shade Concealer

When you visit their website, you can enter your zip code to find out all about spa open houses, sampling events, and makeovers near you. Check to see if L'Oreal will be at your local Rite Aid to demonstrate their True Match line and get the chance to get samples and coupons. :D
